Safety Tips for Women Travellers
1) Wear a wedding band. Generally, Egyptian men seem to have more respect for a married women.
2) If you are travelling with a man, it is better to say you´re married rather than ´just friends´.
3) Avoid direct eye contact with an Egyptian man unless you know him well; dark sunglasses could help.
4) Try not to respond to an obnoxious comment from a man - act as if you didn´t hear it.
5) Be careful in crowds and other situations where you are crammed between people as it is not unusual for crude things to happen in this situation.
6) On public transport, sitt next to a woman if possible. This is not difficult on the Cairo metro, where the first compartment is reserved for women only.
7) If you´re in the countryside (off the beaten track) be extra conservative in what you wear.
8) Be very careful about behaving in a flirtatious or suggestive manner - it could create more problems than you ever imagined.
9) If you need help for any reasons (directions etc), ask a woman first.
10) Be wary when horse or camel riding, especially at the Pyramids. It´s not unknown for a guy to ride close to you and grab your horse, among other things. Riding with a man on a horse or camel is simply asking for trouble.
11) You may find it handy to learn the Arabic for ´don´t touch me´ (la tilmasni). Also worth memorising are ihtirim nafsak (literally ´behave yourself) or haasib eedak (watch your hand). Stronger language will only make it worse.
12) Being befriended by an Egyptian women is a great way to learn more about life in Egypt and, at the same time, have someone totally nonthreatening to guide you around. Getting to know an Egyptian women is, however, easier said than done. You won´t find them in cafes or traditional coffehouses and fewer women speak English than men.

Men gud! Hur känns det nu då? Det kommer ni klara galant. köp ett weddingband bara så slipper du förhoppningsvis onödigt mycket ragg, med tanke på att du är blond med ;)
